Both the range Rover and range Rover sport have been updated for 2015, with improved performance, a lot more in-car tech and broader scope for personalisation. Available to buy from July 16, each model will now feature Land Rover’s InControl connectivity interface as standard. The Remote branch of this system features an integrated SOS emergency call function, Optimised Land Rover help and a smartphone app allowing users to connect remotely with their automobile from anywhere. Meanwhile, the safe arm tracks your RR in the unlikely event that it’s stolen. Debuting alongside this tech are two new tools, InControl apps and WiFi. The first allows owners to sync smartphone apps to the vehicle’s touchscreen, and is compatible with Android and Apple, while the second supplies instant in-car access to a mobile hotspot that can support up to eight devices at once.

Improved scope for personalisation indicates customers can now select ‘Aruba silver’ and ‘Kaijoura Stone’ exterior paint schemes, with the roofing and doorsills matching the body colour or otherwise finished in contrasting black. Plus, there’s the option of new 19-inch Satin Dark Grey alloys for conventional range Rovers, whilst enormous 22-inch alloys are available for long-wheelbase variants. Elsewhere, updated puddle lamps project an outline of the automobile onto the ground to light the way for occupants at night, whilst inside there’s also an Intelligent Cargo mode that moves the front seats forwards if extra room is needed when folding the rears. Changes aren’t purely cosmetic, either. The 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel engine benefits from an additional 40Nm of torque, so that it now generates 334bhp and 740Nm, and is paired to a revised eight-speed automatic gearbox.
From August, the Autobiography Black LWB model will become available in the UK, too. This uses added exclusivity in the form of LED tail-lamps, special 21 and 22-inch alloys and redesigned seats, plus configurable mood lighting and exclusive interior and exterior trims. An executive class package uses two individual fully-adjustable seats on top of this, plus an extended centre console with electric leather tables, integrated USB charging sockets, and bespoke lighting.
